Remote sensing systems, with fixed range of spectral sensitivity, have the capability to analyze different surfaces at wavelengths not detectable to the human visual system. This has been able to generate data that far exceeds the current capacity to handle these data and have been used over the years to distinguish between different features on the earth surface based on each characteristics spectral signature.
