Outlining the importance of gender in the process of constructing postcolonial identities, and understanding how it influences contemporaneity, becomes necessary since the concept of gender brings an essential contribution to postcolonial theory. Initially, postcolonialism did not consider the implications of gender when discussing dichotomies of power.
