The 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN)1 is explicit on the need for employees to subordinate their individual interest. In Article 1 in its Fifth Schedule – Code of Conduct for Public Officers, it is stated that “a public officer shall not put himself in a position where his personal interest conflicts with his duties and responsibilities”.
