Tasar culture a forest-based industry reared most by trible population involves crop loss due to parasites, predators and climatic vagaries. The Tasar silkworm Antheraea mylitta is a commercial and wild sericigenous insect, tropical tasar culture is practiced in nine states viz, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhatisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharastra, and Andhra Pradesh. The Tasar silkworm is a polyphagous (Jolly et al,1974) insect and feed on many food plants and is reared on nature grown treses in the forest and plantation in the farms by the tribals (Svayan Sahayata samuh).
