In Trikatu as essential ingredients of numerous prescriptions and formulations used for a wide range of disorders. As per Ayurvedic pharmacology, ‘Trikatu’ means ‘Katu-Tikta rasa’ (bitter- pungent or acrid taste), ‘Usna’ (hot), ‘Virya’ (potency), ‘Madhura rasa’ (sweet taste) and ‘Vata-kaphaNasaka’1-2 (air and mucus destroyer under the disease conditions).
